Physiotherapy Modalities

Physiotherapy Modalities by Back in Shape Chiropractic

Patients who suffer from weak or frail muscles, muscle pain, swelling, spasms, soft tissue injuries and complications, or any type of degraded balance, motion or coordination are offered physiotherapy modalities to help mitigate and treat those common issues. The degree of pain and hindrance associated with those complications will determine whether something as simple as daily stretching will suffice, whereas a higher level of pain and difficulty will need to be treated with the proven effectiveness of a physiotherapy modality.

The general purpose of using a physiotherapy modality on a patient is to return him or her to a normal level of comfort, functionality and/or muscle capability through short or long term treatment. Treatment often helps a patient reduce or eliminate pain, while also assisting in strengthening, relaxing, and healing muscles. A trained Chiropractor, such as Dr. Leo Potetti, will analyze each patient’s condition and determine the best source of modality for the particular problem they are dealing with.

There are hundreds of different types of physiotherapy modalities that a chiropractor can use, and choosing which one will be most effective is necessitated by the particular problem someone has.

Some of the most common physiotherapy modalities include:

  • Ultrasound
  • Electrical Stimulation
  • Phonophoresis
  • Hydrocollator (heat therapy)
  • Cryotherapy
  • Short Wave Diathermy
  • Transcutaneous Electic Nerve Stimulation (T.E.N.S.)

Stop living in pain. You deserve better.
